Prado wins after the SMX final overall, Davies sweeps the 250s
The SMX World Championship Final, round 31, split its 450 honours between two riders, while Cole Davies won both 250 motos. Haiden Deegan took the 450 overall, Jorge Prado won Moto 2 and finished top of the series table, and Levi Kitchen leads the 250 standings.
450SMX. Deegan led every one of the 17 laps of Moto 1, ahead of Ken Roczen after the opening lap, and won by 3.106 seconds. Prado answered in Moto 2 by leading from the first lap to the last. On lap 15 his lap took 79.3 seconds against his 76.7 average, and Deegan was 0.748 behind, but the lead held and Prado won by 1.729. Deegan's 1-2 against Prado's 2-1 gave Deegan the overall, with Hunter Lawrence third.
Eli Tomac started Moto 1 from 21st and was 18th by lap 3. He then fell on lap 15, dropped from 11th to 13th, lost almost 11 seconds in one sector and finished 13th.
The sectors were shared out in Moto 1. Deegan was fastest in three, Roczen in two, and Prado took sector 5 by 0.210. The ideal lap of 73.351 was only 0.085 under Deegan's fastest.
250SMX. Davies was fifth after lap 1 of Moto 1 while Kitchen led. Davies passed Landen Gordon on lap 7 and Nate Thrasher on lap 8 for second. Thrasher fell on that lap, going from second to seventh. Davies caught Kitchen and took the lead on lap 15, then won by 2.133 seconds. He held five of the eight fastest sectors, and in sector 3 he was 0.418 clear. In Moto 2 he led every lap and won by 6.451, a perfect 1-1 round.
Ryder DiFrancesco went from 18th to 12th across laps 2 and 3 of Moto 2 and finished tenth. Julien Beaumer climbed from 17th to 14th in the same laps and finished ninth. In Moto 1, Pierce Brown ended 0.935 behind Beaumer.
The standings. With no rounds left, Prado finishes top of the 450 table on 158 points, seven ahead of Deegan, with Lawrence third, 22 back. In the 250s, Kitchen finishes first on 153 points. DiFrancesco is 24 behind and Davies third, 25 behind. Davies also won this final last year, and so did Deegan.
